Are there any companies in Japan that do not require japanese skills?
Are there any companies in Japan that do not require japanese skills?
This question is too vague unless you provide more background on yourself or what you are looking for.
Thanks for the information
I agree with the first comment, and I can say it is English teacher...
You mean companies providing you visa to live in Japan but not requiring you any Japanese skills?
I think it depends on what kind of job role you're looking for. Let's say if you're programmer, I would say it's easier than other job roles like PM, PjM or sales. I know Rakuten hires those people and actually my current company does too.
But I would say it's not easy cause all of my non-Japanese friends are struggling to find one.
That’s true. Same problem with my friend. Very different to find a job in Japan without japanese skills. My friend has permanent visa. He is trying to looking for another job in japan. May I know which company are you working for?
Yeah, very sad. Japan says they want skillful people from foreign countries and actually companies and people here are very bad at English. Most of my non-Japanese friends work as either teacher, engineer or head hunter. (Or very rare but designers or PjM)
I know some small companies hire non Japanese speaker but I assume you don't want to lower down your salary so.
Actually, one of my colleges got job at Octpus Energy recently. I assume they hire non-Japanese speaking engineers too. Are you an engineer?
No I am not. Feel like the life in Japan is becoming more difficult …😅
I would say, why did you choose to try to get a job in Japan?
It’s very obvious that U.S. needs English skills and Japan needs Japanese skills because Japanese official language is Japanese.
You’d better go and find your job in other countries like India or U.S. :)
There are plenty of jobs that need English speakers in Japan as well. The problem is that the average employee in Japan does not speak English so hiring someone that can't speak Japanese is problematic (as they can't communicate with their coworkers).
I know some ppl who can’t speak Japanese well and don’t have any professional skills but in directer’s positions and well-paid. Coworkers don’t like them but that kind of ppl know many powerful expats recruiters and HR ppl. If you are really good at networking with them in Tokyo, you could get some juicy jobs.
Unless the question is “are there jobs in Japan in [insert your field of expertise] that don’t require Japanese skills”, the question you are really asking is “are there jobs in Japan that don’t require any skills other than speaking English”.
The answer to this has been proven by many a foreigner’s experience — b-tier eikaiwa followed by recruiting (provided your English proficiency is high enough), or perhaps some types of evening entertainment. Obviously there are exceptions, but this is the general experience.
It's already mentioned above.
Oops, I'm sorry.
